Find answers about squad training, CEDO membership, Club Nights, competitions, volunteering and getting started at Jindalee Pool.
Getting Started
Information for swimmers and families who are new to squad swimming or considering joining CEDO.
What is the difference between Rackley Swimming and CEDO?
Rackley Swimming delivers and manages squad training at Jindalee Pool. This includes squad assessments, training schedules, coaching and squad fees.
Centenary Dolphins Swim Club, known as CEDO, provides club membership, Club Nights, competition support and opportunities for swimmers and families to be part of the wider club community.
How does my child join a squad?
Junior, Bronze, Silver and Gold Squad swimmers should first complete a squad assessment with Head Coach Hiromi Barnett. The assessment helps place each swimmer in the squad that best matches their current ability, confidence and goals.
Visit our Join CEDO page to begin.
Can adults join the swimming program?
Yes. Adult Squad welcomes swimmers with a wide range of experience, abilities and goals.
No initial assessment is required. Adults can come to the pool deck, introduce themselves to the coach and ask about joining a trial session.
Where does CEDO train?
CEDO swimmers train at Jindalee Pool, located at 11 Yallambee Road, Jindalee QLD 4074.
The centre has a heated 50 metre outdoor pool and a heated indoor pool.
CEDO Membership
Answers about club membership, squad requirements and Swim Central.
Does my child need to join CEDO to attend squad training?
Club membership requirements depend on the swimmer’s squad.
- Junior Squad: CEDO membership is optional.
- Bronze Squad: CEDO membership is highly encouraged.
- Silver and Gold Squads: CEDO membership is required.
The swimmer should first be assessed and registered for the correct Rackley squad before completing CEDO membership.
How do I purchase CEDO membership?
CEDO memberships are purchased annually through Swim Central. Families need a Swim Central account and must select the correct membership product for each person joining.
Visit the Join CEDO page for membership instructions and access to Swim Central.
Are CEDO membership fees included in squad fees?
No. Squad training fees are managed by Rackley Swimming. CEDO membership is purchased separately through Swim Central.
Do new members need to agree to the Code of Conduct?
Yes. New members are required to read, acknowledge and sign the CEDO Code of Conduct when joining the club.
The Code of Conduct supports a respectful, safe and positive environment for swimmers, families, coaches and volunteers.
Is membership required to compete at official swim meets?
Yes. Swimmers generally need current membership with an affiliated swimming club to enter approved competitions through Swim Central.
Speak with the coach before entering a competition if you are unsure whether the meet or selected events are appropriate.
Club Nights
Relaxed racing opportunities that help swimmers build confidence, practise race skills and enjoy being part of the club.
What is a CEDO Club Night?
Club Nights give swimmers an opportunity to practise starts, turns, finishes and racing in a friendly club environment.
They are designed to support participation, confidence and enjoyment rather than placing the main focus on results.
Visit the Club Nights page for current information.
Does my child need CEDO membership to attend Club Nights?
No. Club membership is not required to participate in CEDO Club Nights.
Club Nights can therefore be a good way for squad swimmers and families to experience the club environment.
Do swimmers need previous racing experience?
No. Club Nights are suitable for swimmers who are learning how swimming races work as well as more experienced competitors.
Coaches can help families choose suitable events and distances.
Do parents need to help at Club Nights?
Club Nights depend on parent and volunteer support. Families may be asked to assist with simple roles such as timekeeping, marshalling or helping organise swimmers.
Instructions can be provided, and no previous experience is required for most roles.
Can parents leave children unattended at Club Nights?
Parents and carers remain responsible for supervising their children unless another arrangement has been clearly agreed.
Coaches, committee members and volunteers should not be assumed to provide general supervision outside their assigned roles.
Competitions
Guidance for families entering official meets and supporting swimmers through the competition pathway.
How do I know which competition my child should enter?
Competition selection should be discussed with the swimmer’s coach. The right meet depends on the swimmer’s squad, experience, current goals and qualifying times.
The CEDO Competition Guide explains the different competition levels.
How do I enter a swim meet?
Entries for most approved competitions are completed through Swim Central. Families select the swimmer, choose the meet and enter the appropriate events before the closing date.
Always check with the coach before submitting entries if you are unsure about event selection.
What is a qualifying time?
A qualifying time is a required race time that a swimmer must achieve before entering certain competitions or events.
Not every meet requires qualifying times. Development meets and Club Nights often provide opportunities for swimmers who are still building competition experience.
What is the difference between short course and long course?
Short course competitions are held in a 25 metre pool. Long course competitions are held in a 50 metre pool.
Race times differ between the two formats because short course races include more turns and wall push offs.
Where can I find upcoming competitions?
Upcoming competitions can be found through the CEDO Competition Guide, Swimming Brisbane event information and Swim Central.
Coaches may also recommend selected meets to particular squads.
Where can I find my child’s official race times?
Official results and personal best times can generally be viewed through the swimmer’s Swim Central profile after meet results have been uploaded.
Squad Training
General information about training schedules, attendance, equipment and communication with coaches.
Where can I find the current training schedule?
Current squad times are available on the Training Schedule page .
Training times and availability are managed by Rackley Swimming and may change during school holidays or special events.
How often should my child attend training?
Recommended attendance depends on the squad, swimmer’s age, experience and goals. The coach can provide guidance on an appropriate weekly training routine.
What equipment does my child need?
Equipment requirements vary between squads. Common training items may include goggles, a drink bottle, fins, kickboard, pull buoy, paddles and a swimming snorkel.
Ask the coach before purchasing equipment so that the correct type and size are selected.
Who should I speak with about squad placement or progress?
Questions about squad placement, training and swimmer development should be directed to the coaching team.
Head Coach Hiromi Barnett can be contacted at hiromi@rackleyswimming.com.au .
Parents and Volunteers
How families can support Club Nights, competitions and the wider CEDO community.
Does CEDO need parent volunteers?
Yes. CEDO relies on families and volunteers to help operate Club Nights, support competitions and contribute to club activities.
Many roles are straightforward, and guidance is available for parents who are helping for the first time.
What volunteer roles are available?
Volunteer opportunities may include timekeeping, marshalling, assisting at Club Nights, helping with events and supporting committee activities.
Do all parent volunteers need a Blue Card?
Blue Card requirements depend on the volunteer role, the type of activity and whether the parent exemption applies.
CEDO asks volunteers to follow the club’s registration and safety requirements before beginning a role involving children.
Visit the Blue Card Requirements page for further information.
Who can I contact if I would like to help?
Speak with a committee member at a CEDO event or contact the Club Secretary to discuss current volunteer opportunities.
Member Safety & Integrity
Information about conduct, child safety, consent and raising concerns.
What standards of behaviour does CEDO expect?
Swimmers, parents, coaches, committee members and volunteers are expected to behave respectfully and support a safe, inclusive and positive club environment.
These expectations are explained in the CEDO Code of Conduct.
Why does CEDO have transport consent forms?
Written consent helps ensure that transport arrangements involving junior members are clear, authorised and appropriately documented.
Separate forms are available for general transport and one to one transport arrangements.
How can a child or parent raise a concern?
Concerns should be raised with an appropriate club representative, such as the Club Secretary, a committee member or the relevant child safety contact.
Immediate safety concerns should be reported to the appropriate emergency service or statutory authority.
Where can I find CEDO safety and integrity information?
CEDO’s Member Safety & Integrity page includes the Blue Card Requirements, Code of Conduct, consent forms and links to national integrity resources.
